Pootastic

Mothers....Do you ever have moments where your children make huge messes and you aren't even sure where to begin? Well we had several of these during our Peruvian expedition.

No that is not chocolate. Yes that is poop.

After we stripped her down and threw her in the shower I just sat their saying now what? There was poop EVERYWHERE. Her entire bed was covered, the sides of the port-a-crib were covered, the top rails of the port-a-crib were covered. Poop was in abundance!

It gets better. Our hotel did not have any sort of laundry. They send all theirs out. What is even better, there was not a laundry mat to be found for miles.

So I jumped in the shower with a bar of bath soap and started scrubbing away. Her blanket, pillow, sheet, baby doll etc. Then I found some limes we had and cut them in half and rubbed them all over everything. That helped with the smell. Oh the smell it was AWFUL. Then we hung them on the balcony to dry in the sun. We looked so WT!

Then on our way back to the USA we were getting ready to go through customs when we smelt something. Yup more poo.

It was in her onsie all the way up her back and then seeping out her legs. Oh geez. I had no idea what to do with that much poo. Where do I even begin?

I took her to the bathroom, which had NO paper towels just a blower. So I used about one million baby wipes. Meanwhile making my daughter sit in the sink so I could bathe her. The sink was covered in poo by the time I was done. I feel bad for the people who had to clean up after us. But that is what they get for not giving me paper towels!

I had a plastic grocery bag in my diaper bag just in case we had another blow out. But I ended up throwing her onsie away because it was SOOOO gross.

Awh motherhood, ain't it grand!?!?

Reminds me of the time I was travelling alone with Jake when he was about 18 mos and had a blowout on the plane. Had him standing buck-nacked in the bathroom trying to clean him up while he pulled every tissue and paper towel out and threw them everywhere. I just burned that memory into my brain and I know I'll never forget how we must have looked in there. I just started laughing to avoid crying in that moment! Yep...good times!! :) Nan

Eewww! Two bad explosions in one trip! Sounds like you handled it very well for what you had to work with! Meadow was our grand exploder, but I don't think we ever had one quite that bad!

Yeah, I'm with Mark. I'd prefer gore over poop. YUCK!!! Blowouts are some of my worst nightmares. Gross! Well, I hope Montezuma feels avenged.

I thought that I was the only parent who had gross poop stories (thanks to Trenton). Yuck, just thinking about those days make me cringe! We need to have a phone chat and compare notes!! Haha... Seriously, I kept fabreeze, tons of wipes, and lysol on hand for a few weeks. I am happy that my lovely child outgrew the poopie phase. Ewwww!

Dear kids Loved to see you playing in the snow. Doesnt look like much building can be completed for a awhile but these special momments are sooo much important. We ran that klip many times. Fortunately your husband only played in his poop once and that was at home. I was looking for some beautiful pictures of peru but I guess it wasnt much fun. I am in pain with a bulging disc! So another surgery!? Love Mom

What a trooper you are. Where was Jeremy during this mess? If he is like me you were better off cleaning this up yourself instead of having to clean up poop and vomit. I hope that other than this you guys had a good trip. Keep up the postings as I check you blog several times a week just to see Hannah and her mom. I love you.

Wow! Yes, more blood and guts please! Or at least some more sausage making pictures.

On the other hand, I think that this picture will get me a serious blackmail reward in another 18 years! I will treasure it until the time is right!

Kids learn so many things from imitating their parents.

We were just enjoying eating our Dove chocolates until we found your post. They became less pleasant to eat, until we scrolled the picture up off of the monitor and just read your amusing (to us and to you in maybe 10 years) and yet horrible poop experience.
Our kids had some blowouts too, although never to such a degree as yours. I do remember cleaning up my male child after one while we were enjoying dinner and a visit at the Wickerts home. Unfortunately, I missed the wad of poo on his toe until I had seated him back at the table. I hadn't thought to clean all the way to the tips of his toes...my bad! It sounds like you were a real trooper. Us moms have been blessed with an amazing amount of creativity when we need it! Thanks for keeping your blog up to date. No worries on poo vs blood and guts. The guys can go gag while the gals nod their heads in agreement with you!
